It’s with heavy hearts we share that longtime Yarmouth Food Pantry volunteer Pat Anderson has passed away.
A retired nurse and native Cape Codder, she began volunteering at the Yarmouth Food Pantry just five months after it opened. Without fail, every distribution day for the past nine years, she could be found working the distribution line with a sense of kindness, compassion and dedication to community that inspired others.
In our summer newsletter, she was kind enough to take the time to share what she liked best about volunteering for the Yarmouth Food Pantry–which is exactly how we remember her. In her own words, she said: “I most enjoy the interaction with the clients, be it giving cooking hints, asking after their grandchildren or getting them to try a new item.” That was one of her many gifts: connecting with people and getting them to open up and try new things–all with a warmth and kindness that was characteristic of who she was.
We will miss her presence at the pantry; she was truly one of a kind.
