Harvesting Spirit. Nourishing the Community

Volunteers Needed!

The Yarmouth Food Pantry simply could not operate without the all-volunteer staff.  We are grateful for each and every one of our more than 100 volunteers. If you are looking for a volunteer opportunity, the Yarmouth Food Pantry has many, from stocking shelves and distributing food to clients to collecting donated items from events and transporting thousands of pounds of weekly goods to the food pantry’s facility.

Want to volunteer a few hours a week?

We distribute food to clients 11 times a month–Tuesdays and Thursdays, weekly, plus the second and fourth Friday of the month as well as the third Saturday of the month. Interested in learning more about this role?  You can read about one of our longtime volunteer’s experiences distributing food weekly. [Hyper link to Pat Anderson essay/ blog from newsletter]

We also need help Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to noon, with sorting goods, stocking shelves, cleaning inventory and packing grocery bags before distribution days as well as food pick-up at local vendors.

If you have time during the day and are able to lift at least 30lbs, we could use help with weekly food transport. You can read about one of our longtime volunteer’s experiences distributing food weekly.

Want to volunteer but don’t have much extra time?

We organize two food drives a year –one in August and the other in November. We are always looking for volunteers to help collect and transport food donations.

We also host our annual Turkey Shoot golf tournament and food drive in November. Volunteers are always needed to help set up and operate these fun and festive events.

If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Yarmouth Food Pantry, Executive Director Susan Martin at 508-394-0880.
